Wedding Planning: Bridal Hair Ideas

My bridal portraits are October 18th and I have booked EnV salon because they are close to my photographer and to my wedding location.  They also were recommended by one of our trusted wedding vendors.

I don't want to share too much about my hair accessories prior to the wedding (because R reads my blog occasionally). But I will share a few of my favorite hairstyles. Some of these have been saved on my computer for years so I have lost some of the original sources (yikes). Please let me know if you recognize the source and I will give credit to the photographer/owner. I want to try my hair up and down during my trials.

Update on my favorite beauty products...

So the past couple years I have posted my favorite products using a preset list.  I decided not to complete the whole list this year and instead name the products that I cannot replace!

Avalon Organics Vitamin C Refreshing Cleansing Gel.  I have posted about this facewash over and over.  I have been using it for over two years and usually I purchase it from Target.  I this it is the best facewash I've ever used - it smells like orange juice and doesn't leave my skin tight or dry.  It gently removes my makeup and doesn't burn my eyes.

Smashbox Concealer.  I'm really surprised by how much I like this.  It was an impulse buy at Sephora and I've already had to repurchase this product twice.  I love the brightening effect when I use it under the eyes.  I have used it on blemishes and it works well to counteract redness too.
CoverGirl Lash Blast Fushion in Black.  This is great mascara - I think I just bought my 6th tube.  I cheated on this mascara once in the past year and I promptly went back to it.  It thickens my lashes and holds curl well.  The brush perfectly seperates lashes  - no clumping, and no weird spidery lashes.

Makeup For Ever Mat Velvet.  I just purchased my second bottle in Ivory.  This oil free formula doesn't clog my pores and it covers all my redness and imperfections.  When I use this I feel like my skin is as perfect as it can get.  Also I can dial up the coverage by using a brush or get a more natural finish with a sponge or my fingers.

Kenra Platinum Silkening Drops.  This is a great product for shine and frizz control.  I use 3-4 pumps after I blow dry and before I use a curling iron or flat iron to help smooth out my hair.  I am on my third bottle and I usually buy it from Ulta.  Over the past 2-3 years I've noticed a lot of my hair stylists using this product and I understand why it is a favorite of the professionals.
Ole Henrickson Truth Serum Collagen Booster.  I'm not quite into anti-aging skin care yet but I use the 3 little miracles set from Ole Henrickson.  I'm on my third bottle of this product which I only use in the mornings after I wash my skin before I moisturize it.  This is a "try it" product.  I can't even explain how much better my skin looks when I use it,  more even, moisturized, and bright.  I haven't had a single  dry skin day this winter because of this product.  I've been using this product consistently for a year but I have used it before after getting a sample at Sephora.  It is my best "little miracle".

Beauty Spree - Ulta Grand Opening

So we just had a new Ulta open in North Carolina and I went to the grand opening this weekend.  I needed hairspray and shampoo anyway so the timing couldn't have been more perfect.  Here were my finds:
I picked up a liter of conditioner and a liter of shampoo for $14.99 each.  This is a great deal since I wash my hair every three days in the winter and every other day in the summer - this size should last for several months.  I've used the All Soft products before but on of the salon associates recommended this line as a color safe option for my dry hair.
My HG hairspray.  This is the anti humidity spray that keeps my hair bouncy and frizz free.  I haven't had any for months and I've missed it so much.

Since I haven't bought any nail color in so long I decided to splurge.  This is Essie Island Hopping which is a dusty purple that would work on hands and feet.

My favorite nail color, Essie Mademoiselle.  I've finished my other bottle and I've been out for several months;  this is my go to manicure color, especially for work.
This is Essie Angora Cardi and I've wanted this one for a while.  It looks like a maroon color but I have a feeling it's going to appear very dark and opaque.  I'll have to test it out but for now I'm only planning to use this as a pedicure color.

Since I was one of the first customers through the door I recieved a grab bag with some goodies - A SexyHair Soy hairspray mini, an Ulta lipgloss in Whisper, an Ulta Tangerine hand lotion, and an Ulta body wash mini.  I'll probably save these for travel but I think it's so sweet that they had gifts for their grand opening and I really can't wait to stop in when they start having events.

New Hair and Products

Ladies this is why I don't do outfit of the day posts...
My typical attire consists of some type of blouse, Express Editor slacks and my Landau lab coat - chic. Actually I'd like to draw some attention to my new highlights and bangs (which I haven't had in many years). My hair before was down to the bra strap so this was a huge change for me. And it was well received!!!! I was given compliments from friends, co workers, family, whistling construction workers - all the usual reliable sources. Maybe I'll hang out at this length for a while.

With every new hair cut and color comes new styling goods. I purchased the Matrix Biolage Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner set for super cheap at trade secrets. I guess they had them left over from the holidays. I also purchased the Straight Sexy Hair Smooth and Protect Flat Iron Spray, this product is great to use on each individual piece before it's straightened, it's so light it doesn't weigh down the volume and the smell is fantastic. So far I like all my new hair goodies!

Beauty Vanity Organization - A work in Progress

I'm using the term "organization" lightly here, my things are really just thrown into drawers but I like watching everyone elses collections so here is my "little" loot.
Parsons chair from Kirklands, desk was a yard sale find, mirrors and tissue holder from TJ Maxx, plastic drawers from walmart.
Sephora Inspired Brush Holder with my Sigma Brush set and a few randoms
Perfume, Eyeliner, Mascara, and Nail Polish
Eye Products - cream liners, primer, random quads and duos. To the left I laid out my Coastal Scents Palette and my 2 MAC palettes that normally go on top. Looks like I had a powder spill on one of my smaller palettes.
Lips - lipsticks and lipglosses. In the back there I have a few hairbands and hair clips. Clearly this is raw footage, it doesn't always look this messy.
Face - bronzers, blushes, mineral foundation, concealer. Again I laid my MAC blush palette on the left but it normally goes on top of the blushes.
Bottom Drawers
Hair Tools - I told you it was thrown in together. My flat iron was in my bathroom so it did not get to make an appearance.
Randoms - I keep my nail kit in this one along with my roller set, some extra sponges, the gloves I use to apply self tanner and a makeup bag that has a bunch of samples and my extra contacts.
I'm really thinking I'd like to get one of these from Ross or Target to organize my palettes.
