A room with a view...

R and I went on a field trip to a local nursery to spruce up the patio a couple of weekends ago.  It's been so blah since I moved in and I wanted to make it a little more welcoming.

I used a voucher from a local store that I received for my birthday to get the garden flag free!

 My cute flower beds!

Mom bought these cushions for my birthday this year and at first I wasn't sure about them but they've grown on me.  I love the red with the dark wicker.

My flower bed and a view of the seashell wreath I made a few weeks ago.

This is the front of my apartment.  I love that it looks so summery and inviting.  Now I have no excuses to have a drink outside and in a couple of monthes my satellite contract will expire so I can move that eyesore dish from spoiling my view.

Moving Soon...

Here are a few photos from my new apartment. It's quite a bit (over 100 sq ft) smaller than my last one but it's a great neighborhood, awesome location, and a reasonable price. I love how quiet it is in the community. Most of my neighbors work at the hospital as medicine residents or nurses so many of them keep odd working hours. I only have photos of a few rooms that I needed to purchase additional furniture for. This photo is a bit squished but the breakfast bar is bigger than shown here. I purchased a couple of the Ashley 30 in bar stools (photo below). I usually hate stools but these are super comfortable and I got them at a liquidation store so I had a great discount.
I purchased a foyer table to try and create an entryway. This table arrived from Overstock.com in perfect condition and I love the Merlot finish. It's the perfect size for a small apartment.
I had to buy all new drapes and curtain rods for my apartment. I sold the brown ones I used two years ago and my last apartment only had one tiny window. I want to hang sheers behind heavy "energy efficient" drapes all of which I found at a great price between two TJ Maxx stores. Unfortunately I didn't realize how hard it is to find the double rod hardware - the ones I found are ridiculously expensive and there isn't much variety. I finally found some that match at Anna's Linens but I'm willing to part with them if I can find anything less expensive.
My kitchen. The appliances are actually very modern compared with ones I've used in past apartments. I LOVE the pantry and all the cabinet space. My last apartment was pretty skimpy with kitchen storage.

Beauty Vanity Organization - A work in Progress

I'm using the term "organization" lightly here, my things are really just thrown into drawers but I like watching everyone elses collections so here is my "little" loot.
Parsons chair from Kirklands, desk was a yard sale find, mirrors and tissue holder from TJ Maxx, plastic drawers from walmart.
Sephora Inspired Brush Holder with my Sigma Brush set and a few randoms
Perfume, Eyeliner, Mascara, and Nail Polish
Eye Products - cream liners, primer, random quads and duos. To the left I laid out my Coastal Scents Palette and my 2 MAC palettes that normally go on top. Looks like I had a powder spill on one of my smaller palettes.
Lips - lipsticks and lipglosses. In the back there I have a few hairbands and hair clips. Clearly this is raw footage, it doesn't always look this messy.
Face - bronzers, blushes, mineral foundation, concealer. Again I laid my MAC blush palette on the left but it normally goes on top of the blushes.
Bottom Drawers
Hair Tools - I told you it was thrown in together. My flat iron was in my bathroom so it did not get to make an appearance.
Randoms - I keep my nail kit in this one along with my roller set, some extra sponges, the gloves I use to apply self tanner and a makeup bag that has a bunch of samples and my extra contacts.
I'm really thinking I'd like to get one of these from Ross or Target to organize my palettes.

Home Sweet Home

After many months of impending doom, I finally moved out of my townhome and into an apartment only 10 minutes away from work. My new place is about 850 sq ft and all mine; this is my first experience without a roommate and I'm loving it so far.
Welcome Ya'll!
Living Room - I don't care for the odd coloring the camera flash is creating on my furniture. Microfiber does not photograph well. I tried taking the photo without flash and the coloring was more true but it was just too dark. The second picture is the other side of the living room. I have the tiniest window and I really don't like that it's located next to the patio door.
Dining Area - I love my pub table, I have a leaf that can make it a larger square but it doesn't it well in this space.
Kitchen - I love my kitchen, I wish this was a better picture; you can't see my decor on top of the cabinets that well. I have my casserole dish collection on my cabinet tops and a few cute signs and decor plates.
Utility Room - Obviously my laundry room. There are small shelves to right as you walk in and I use them for storing my small kitchen appliances and Lilly's food and water are kept in this room. I usually keep the door partially closed so you don't have to look at my detergent bottles and Lilly can still get in and out.
Bedroom - I have wall decor that I haven't found a place for yet but I know this room will probably look better with some color on the walls.
Vanity Table - I keep my hair and makeup supplies in this corner.
Closet - Walk-in closet, I just finished a 10 day work week so please excuse "the mess".
Bathroom - The curtain in real life is a slightly darker red and on the other side of the sink I just have a couple of candle sticks. I'm loving my gigantic garden tub, I'm hoping to take full advantage of it, especially this winter. The second picture is Lilly's corner of the bathroom.
Patio - This was a difficult picture to take. I'm hoping to get a few potted plants for some color out here.
