Things I'm loving...

So back in the day I would post items that I was in love with each month....then I got out of the habit. I'm going to give it a go again...if not monthly then at least regularly.
My new bird canvas (purchased from Target) hanging in our bathroom.  I like it now but I'll love it one day when I actually can paint my walls whatever shade I want.
I purchased the second pillow to accent our living room chair and two of the pillows on the bottom for our couch.  I love the way they look in our living room - honestly I hated our other pillows and purchased them on a whim when R told me he wanted more "color" in our home.
Awesome hairspray!  I use this in the winter and spring and it does a great job.  I usually switch to a frizz reducing hairspray like Big Sexy Hair Stay and Play Harder during the summer.
Best home fragrance.  These Pink Zebra Sprinkles pack a punch- I have Pumpkin Spice and Farm House Cider and I love to mix the two in my warmer.  The scent expands throughout the whole bottom floor of our home and it lasts for hours.
Favorite packaged soup.  I add cayenne to mine and serve alongside a grilled cheese.  Ah-mazing.
R and I are both using the Peter Thomas Roth glycolic cleanser and it seems to be good stuff.  I only use it three times a week with my Clarasonic Mia.  It's so strange how my skin feels so clean with no tightness or dryness.  I don't think I can use it daily though.  R seems to like it as well.
The December Popsugar box included a mixed collection of Tea Forte brand teas.  I love the Black Currant and White Ambrosia so much - I'm hooked!
Shark Steam Mop...this was a gift from Santa off our wedding registry and we have become very good friends.  I have peace of mind knowing my floors are clean and sanitized.  It's so easy to use and heats up in a matter of seconds.  I see a lot of evenings with a glass of wine and this steam mop...it's so much fun, R will probably never get a chance to use it.
R's sister gave me the BareMinerals Shine On palette for Christmas and I've used it almost daily this month. The shadows included do not seem like "natural" shades but I swear it is the most beautiful daytime, work appropriate look.  I love the primer and the 4pm waterproof eyeliner.  The blush is more of a highlight even on my fair skin...it's not very pigmented.  The gloss is a nice natural shade but I wouldn't turn it down in another color.  The staying power is pretty good and I love the flavor.
I received this cuticle pen for Christmas too (I received so many great gifts) - it's perfect to keep in your handbag and touch up your cuticles during the day if they seem dry.  I wash my hands and use sanitizer often during the day  so my hands and cuticles are very dry.  I'm still using my Burts Bees cuticle balm at home but this solution does a great job of moisturizing them on the go.
I'm loving this show!  I liked Sex and the City (liked...maybe even loved but wasn't obsessed like some others I know), so I thought I'd give this prequel a shot.  It's set in the 80s and the fashion is spot on. I found it by accident but now I'm kind of into it.

Currently, I Am...

(post was inspired by Katie at Keep Calm and Carry On - because it looked like so much fun!)

Reading: Midnight in the Garden of Good Evil...ever since we chatted about Savannah as a possible honeymoon destination I've wanted to read this book.  I've seen the movie so I'm familiar with the story but in most cases the book is better than the movie.

Watching: Criminal Minds, an episode from the DVR- I'm such an addict.  I'm convinced that I'm getting an education when I watch these crime dramas and law shows.  I consider myself a professional at pointing out behaviors in psycho serial killers.

Thinking About:  My bridal portraits.  My photographer posted them on her website a couple of nights ago (password protected of course so R can't see).  My mom loves them so much she is buying the disk with all the photos but I have to choose one to hang as my actual portrait.  There are several good ones (and many great ones that don't necessarily show all the details of my dress) and I'm having trouble deciding.

Loving: My fiance :-)  I'm also really loving fall - the weather is perfect to spend time outside.  Spending time inside isn't so bad either, curling up under a blanket in the evening.  There are so many things I'm loving - pumpkin lattes, pumpkin and apple scented candles, pie, soup, boots, and scarves

Looking Forward To:  R has been wanting to use the fire pit and these cool nights are perfect for it.  He also obtained some deer meat that we may use for spaghetti or quiche this upcoming weekend.  We also have a blackout game against Navy this weekend.

Wondering:  If we will ever make a decision where to go for our honeymoon.

Cooking / Baking:  None for now.  I've been craving apple pie and I might make a small crumble for myself since R doesn't like cooked apples.  My mom bought a slice of pumpkin jelly roll recently for us to share and it was delicious!

Disliking:  The long line at the early voting poll.  But at least it's over with and I can say I've voted!

Making Me Happy:  The upcoming holidays - I love Thanksgiving for the food and family and then I love to come home and decorate for Christmas!  I've already started purchasing some gifts and making holiday plans with R.  Next month will be a little stressful with moving and premarriage counseling so I'm really excited to have something to look forward to.

Wishing You:  a blessed evening!

Pumpkin Patch 2012

We had such a fun weekend!  R and I aren't seeing each other much because we are working some strange hours and we are working in different towns every day.  We have decided to move but we haven't found a house yet so for the next few weeks we are trying to make the most of our limited time together.
Saturday morning we set out with a plan...we wanted to go early this year to pick our pumpkins!  I decided Baby should come with us for some excellent photo opportunities in her new Halloween Costume.  We buy our pumpkins from a local church that sales them on a very busy street corner in town.  Apparently on "opening day" of pumpkin sales pets are welcome to attend a Pet Blessing in the morning.  We actually arrived  about an hour after the pet event ended but the preacher still came over to Baby and said a special blessing that ended with her getting a delicious treat.  It was so sweet!

 Riding in the Car.
 Prettiest pumpkin in the patch.
I love that she doesn't mind getting dressed up.
Baby wouldn't focus with me for a photo so this is the best one I have.
I love this one ...  Baby knows one trick "shake" and she thinks she should get a snack every time she does it.
We left with three pumpkins!  My choice was the small "warty" one - I kept coming back to it.  R likes big pumpkins with curly stems.  We decided to enter this photo into a Pet-O-Ween contest at a local radio station.  So far I definitely think it's the best one....voting starts on October 26 so I may post a request for votes here on my blog :-)

In the afternoon R and I went to a matinee showing of Frankenweenie...I'm a big Tim Burton fan and I've been waiting for this movie for about 10 years.  Oh my gosh the story is so sweet and there were definitely parts that had us teary.  We finished the night with shrimp tacos - a yummy post for another night.

Yes I am a Pirate...

I have mentioned before that my college mascot was a Pirate and I've actually been a Pirate football fan since I was a little girl. Even though my style is classic and preppy I still manage to add a skull or two and I get excited over any and all pirate history. During my recent trip to Charleston the Provost Dungeon had the Pirate Code of Ethics posted. Pirates adopted the original form of democracy, the captain and all other positions were voted on by the crew and the crew also took a vote to determine punishments. The Carolinas have a heavy Pirate past, Stede Bonnet and his crew were captured in South Carolina and over 40 men were hanged over a 6 week period. A typical Pirate execution involved the man being hanged facing the sea for 3 full tides before being thrown into the water. Blackbeard one of the most well known pirates was killed on Ocracoke Island in North Carolina by an untraditional beheading. Just a few historical facts from a pirate who is 200 years too late.

Tag: 5 Current Obsessions

Alot of bloggers are updating with their current obsessions so I'm joining in.
 1. Fruit. I adore the fresh fruit available now. All the stands along side the road selling peaches, berries, melons - ah the best part of summer.
 2. Greek yogurt. So tangy and smooth I could eat it all day.
 3. Perfume. Every department store and beauty store I have gone into I have to stop and smell everything. I'm planning on a total fragrance revamp, for the past year I've been trying to finish a few old bottles of perfume so I could get all new ones.
 4. Hair color. I have had every hair color imaginable and even though I loved the caramel highlights I had for summer I love my new dark color so much more. My stylist used a cool medium-dark brown as my base and blended in thin copper highlights.
 5. Dresses. My shorts, skirts, and tank tops have been neglected this summer. After work I come home and it's so hot that I want to slip into a simple cotton day dress. I bought several new ones this year from Gap and Old Navy and I've been living in them in the afternoons and weekends.

Introduction

I am a twenty-something, southern girl with good southern values. I like reading blogs in my spare time so I thought I would start one of my own. All day I'm so serious at work I thought this would be a great escape for me to ramble about the things I love. Loves of my Life: 1. God. 2. Family and Friends. 3. Lilly (my beautiful silver kitty who deserves her own special mention).
4. Food. I have an interest in all things nutrition and I enjoying reading cookbooks and creating new recipes of my own. I am lucky that I get paid to understand and love food. 5. Fashion and Beauty. This might be frivolous to some but after a serious day at work it would be great to unwind by chatting about makeup and clothes. My last two loves are the ones I'll probably post about most often. As far as my style is concerned I love large accessories - earrings, sunglasses, totes, bangle style bracelets. Other than that I would describe myself as "classic", I don't like to wear things that will eventually look "dated". This blog will probably feature my beauty / fashion sprees, product reviews, food / recipe reviews, favorite products, etc. I want this blog to be a fun hobby so please keep any comments positive. Thanks! oxox
